In today’s society, the
internet is indispensable for every age group. Many people do not travel to a
workplace, they simply sit in front of the computer and do their job. However,
this issue is controversial. Although many people use the internet daily, they
often complain about it. The main issue that people have with the internet is
that it steals their time. How much are they right about that? The internet
provides many opportunities for human beings, including quick access to
information, communication with ease etc. But why is the internet guilty even
though it has many benefits to human beings? Is it fair to accuse the internet
of stealing our time or are we guilty because we do not know how to use the
internet in the right way?
I
wonder what a young Austin citizen think about that. I went to knock my
neighbor door and I told him I have some question for him. At first, he
surprised a little and told me that this was the first interview of him. Later
he accepted having an interview with him politely. I asked him who must uses
the internet. His answer was simple and he said anyone who feels responsible
enough to use the internet. He was right about that.
Of
course I accept that the internet causes variety of problems. What my friend’s
think about that is mainly indolence and apathy. This is true, but this is our
responsibility. Families should not introduce the internet as a tool for
entertainment. If the internet is used for the wrong purposes, this is going to
cause indolence and apathy. The other problem is that the internet provides us
a large amount of information and leads students to “copy and paste” information,
never really teaching any material. This is a point to be considered
undoubtedly.
I
wanted to listen to my friend for the more important question of interview
which is “What problems does the internet solve?” My friend’s answer was
impressive and I certainly agree with him. He told me that the internet has
allowed society to access a vast amount of knowledge in seconds, even at the
touch of their fingertips in today’s modern age. For those with eager minds and
a drive for knowledge, the internet is a wonderful tool.
The
internet is the biggest part of technology today. Without the internet,
everything would be harder than it is now. From my perspective, the internet is
the biggest innovation if we use it in a right way. Instead of accusing the internet
of stealing our time and controlling our brains, we need to instead control and
use the internet to improve our present knowledge. In conclusion, if we weigh
the advantages and the disadvantages, we can easily see that the advantages are
going to outweigh the disadvantages.
